THE NEED FOR A NEW CEMETERY
Hyderi Islamic Centre has acquired a cemetery plot for the South London Shia Muslim Community. The existing cemetery where the members are buried (Streatham Park Cemetery / Rowan Road) is running extremely low on available space and we only have approximately 10-20 graves remaining. We acquired 236 graves at this cemetery 25 years ago and this has served the community very well, however, there is now an imminent need to try and find an alternative for our community and in order to fulfil our Islamic responsibility.
Within the Inner London area, there is a significant lack of availability plots for purchase which can be used for a Shia Muslim community of our size and the Hyderi Jamaat has been actively pursuing the search of a plot for many years.

Bluebell Cemetery
Bluebell Cemetery (“Bluebell”) is a Private Cemetery which was opened recently in June 2019. It is on on the Green Belt close to Junction 4 of the M25 and is approximately 25 minutes from Hyderi Islamic Centre (Pioneer Place). It has been awarded the Silver prize in the National Cemetery of the Year Awards under the Small Medium Burial Ground category.
Hyderi have agreed to acquire 282 adult graves and 25 children graves for £1.3 million. Each of the graves can be double graves which would double the 282 adult graves to 564 graves.
